Which days and times will the Museum of Lincolnshire Life be open to the public?

The Museum of Lincolnshire Life will open 10.00 am-4.00 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sundays each week. Three days a week (Last entry 3.45).

Is it still free to enter the museum?

Please be aware that while entry to the Museum of Lincolnshire Life is free, visitors no longer need to pre book a free entry ticket.

Is the museum accessible to wheelchair users?

Most of the museum is on ground level. The upstairs gatehouse gallery area will be reopened from Friday 23rd July but unfortunately the lift is currently out of order and due to be repaired as soon as possible.

We have a wheelchair on site if it is required. Please ask a member of staff when you arrive.

Will I need to wear a face covering?

We recommend that visitors wear a face mask during their visit.

Will parking be available at the museum?

The side car park will be closed. There will be two disabled parking spaces on the right of the entrance reserved for disabled parking. And limited parking at the front.

Which areas of the museum will be open?

Will any of the display areas be closed?

No, all areas will be open for visitors.

Will the touch screens in the Regimental Galleries be working?

The touch screens will be switched on in the Regimental Galleries.

Will the café be open?

The Café will be closed until further notice.

Will children be able to use the play area?

The play area will be open.  Parents/guardians will need to supervise their children at all times.

Will the second hand book shop be open?

Yes the second hand book shop will be open.

What safety and hygiene measures are in place?

The health and safety of our visitors and staff is always our top priority and we will be fully complying with government  guidelines to protect all visitors. 

  • Anyone showing signs of Covid 19 will not be given acces.
  • A hand sanitizer station will be placed at the main entrance.
  • There will be hand sanitizer at the shop/reception desk.
  • The disabled toilet will be available on request, and will be well stocked with hand soap and paper towels.
  • Instructions on how to wash hands properly will be provided on the walls above washing facilities.
  • Toilets will be kept clean on a regular basis.
  • Staff will ensure that door handles and door push buttons are regularly cleaned/sanitized throughout the day.
  • A Perspex screen will be on the shop counter to protect staff and customers.
Will visitors need to book their visit?

You no longer need to book your visit.

Are baby changing facilities and toilets available?
  • There is a baby changing facility available on request.
  • The disabled toilet will be available on request, and will be well stocked with hand soap and paper towels. Instructions on how to wash hands properly are displayed above the washing facilities.
  • These facilities will be cleaned on a regular basis throughout the day.
  • Toilets will be available.
If I leave the site will I be able to re-enter?

No. We are limiting numbers in to the site and monitoring visitor flow so that everyone enjoys their visit.

I only want to see one exhibit, do I still need to book in advance?

Yes, you will still have to book in advance. The number of visitors will be kept to a manageable level. 

Will I be able to hire one of the I-guides?

No, I-guides will not be available until further notice.

Can I pay with cash?
  • Cash payments will be accepted for purchasing souvenirs in the shop.
  • Card payments will be accepted through chip & pin as well as contacless. The card reader will be cleaned after each transaction made so it is clean for the next user.
Can I give a donation?

Donations can be accepted at the shop till by card – chip & pin. Cash donations will be accepted.
